Fluency:
It is the interrupted flow of speech characterized by rate, rhythm or disfluencies (Eg. repetition, prolongation and block).
Children and adults who stutter frequently experience psychological, emotional, social and functional effects. They also fear social anxiety, negative thoughts and loss of confidence.
Individuals who clutter are characterised by perceived rapid and/or irregular rate of speech with atypical pauses. Cluttering may affect pragmatic communication skills and awareness of moments of disfluencies.
Thus, fluency therapy is needed to alter the speech fluency, rate and rhythm.
